Building bridges to care
AccessOC, Southern California, with the help of the community serves Orange County’s most vulnerable residents. All of our patients are low-income and are under- or uninsured; they all live at or below 200% of federal poverty level.
While our target population may access primary care through certain private physicians, group practices, or one of the free and low-cost community clinics, they lack access to specialty care — because very few local specialists accept public insurance or serve the uninsured. As a result, many suffer ongoing pain from untreated medical conditions, have become unable to work, and have significantly reduced quality of life. By enhancing access to essential specialty care, AccessOC’s work helps improve health and well-being for Orange County’s low-income, medically underinsured residents.
Through partnerships with community clinics, surgery centers, and hospitals, AccessOC currently operates the following programs:
Super Surgery Day Model
AccessOC, Southern California, partners with facilities in Orange County that dedicate one day annually to provide care to our patients. Patients, about 10-40 per Surgery Day, receive surgical care throughout the day with the help of a large clinical volunteer team.
Integrated Surgery Model
A freestanding surgery center/hospital and physicians/staff agree to provide care for our patients on a one-to-one basis throughout the year. AccessOC, Southern California, patients are scheduled (“integrated”) into the normal Monday – Friday surgery schedule.
